Boeing finally delivers first B787 Dreamliner

After many manufacturing setbacks that resulted in a 3-year production delay, Boeing finally announced that it signed all the papers required to transfer ownership of the first B787 Dreamliner to Star Alliance carrier ANA All Nippon Airways.

It has been a rough ride for the company – even more so considering the success encountered by the A380. Yet, a new era in the aviation industry is about to start, with the new, lighter aircraft promising to deliver fuel and cost savings to airlines and upgraded customer experience to customers.

Only time will tell to which extent the delay will represent a setback for Boeing – especially given the fact that Airbus is receiving strong pre-orders for its upcoming A350 (scheduled to enter service in 2015).
